The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is the regulator of healthcare services in the Emirate of Dubai. Therefore, it is the government body that sets the standards and audits compliance of all facilities that provide medical services to patients or companies. Dubai being one of the best places in the world to receive healthcare services reflects on the regulator's standards and its audit on compliance. It is illegal for anyone to provide to you any type of health related services without having the respective license from the regulator. This is your ultimate token of confidence in the services you receive.
An accredited by an international body medical facility has passed through a very extensive list of reference / accuracy audit (normally on a monthly basis) against global benchmarks. Such an accreditation reassures the patient on the quality of services offered. Be aware, accredited for certain services does not mean that all facilities are accredited for all their services!
Simplicity does not always mean better technology or automation is medical laboratory tests!
We as humans tend to "operate" a quite complicated mechanism (body). A lab that poses too many questions most likely is doing what is best for you in its effort to clinically correlate your results to your physiology. As any investigation, it is subject to the conditions of this experiment. Pay close attention to the required terms and conditions of the test and comply to ensure the maximum level of accuracy (fasting, sample type, transportation or blood drawing requirements).

In most cases, it should be! At least it should be more sensitive and thus more accurate.
A reference lab has as sole purpose to process a large number of samples daily using more advanced and sensitive equipment to those found in a hospital. A hospital on the other hand, focuses on the speed of results and feasibility using equipment that can cater a smaller load based on its size.
Firstly, there are multiple methodologies to address the testing of a biomarker. A different methodology, by nature should give a different result. Secondly, in a big part of the tests the values fluctuate day by day however for critical tests (i.e. HBa1c) these should not vary considerably within close dates. Do not try to interpret the results of lab tests on your own, trust always your treating physician to interpret results provided by hospitals or medical laboratories.
This wheel has been invented decades before. There are very specific guidelines on sample collection and transportation. Entrust a medical provider that is licensed, has credibility and experience and, them following the process, enjoy the convenient process of running your tests from the convenience of your home.
There is a list of routine investigations or proactive checkups that will not require a prescription. In Intel Lab we have designed packages that can be done without a prescription. Our clinical team and licensed pathologists will support and guide you. Remember however that in certain cases we will require for initial assessment from a physician, we are not stingy, we do it in accordance to best clinical practice. For interpretation of your results you always need a physician, do not worry we have you covered there too.
