Inside the Anemia Profile
The Anemia Profile is our anemia test in Dubai: 3 tests covering 23 biomarkers (a complete blood count (CBC), serum iron and vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin)) from a single visit at home or at the lab. It is built for anyone feeling tired, weak or short of breath, for women losing iron through heavy or prolonged periods, for vegetarians and vegans whose iron or B12 intake may run low, and for people following the progress of an anaemia already being treated.
The panel works because it asks the question and then two of the likeliest answers. The complete blood count contributes 21 of the 23 values and shows whether your haemoglobin is genuinely low, how many red cells you are making and (through the red cell indices) whether those cells are unusually small, unusually large or normal in size. That shape hint points the way: small, pale cells commonly accompany a shortage of iron, larger-than-usual cells commonly accompany a shortage of vitamin B12. Measuring iron and B12 in the same draw means the pattern can be confirmed rather than guessed, and the white cell and platelet counts in the CBC give your doctor a wider view when neither nutrient explains the result.
The visit needs one EDTA tube for the blood count and one serum tube for iron and B12. Because serum iron is included, come after an 8–12 hour overnight fast with plain water allowed; the blood count and B12 need no preparation of their own. A DHA-licensed phlebotomist collects free of charge anywhere in Dubai, 7 days a week, and the physician-reviewed Smart Report reaches you within 24 hours.
Bring the report to your doctor, who reads it against your symptoms, your diet, your medication and your menstrual history. A normal set is reassuring; an abnormal one usually leads to a specific treatment and a repeat test a few months later to confirm that the numbers have moved.

Book the visit that suits you
Pick a home or office collection anywhere in Dubai, or come to the lab, 7 days a week. Mornings work best here because one of the three tests has to be drawn fasting.
- 2
Fast overnight for the iron tube
Have nothing to eat for 8–12 hours beforehand, with plain water allowed. The blood count and vitamin B12 are unaffected by food; serum iron is the marker that needs the fast.

Two tubes, one appointment
An EDTA tube feeds the complete blood count and a serum tube carries iron and vitamin B12, both analysed at our EIAC-accredited Dubai laboratory under DHA licence 0046381.

23 values, read as one picture
Within 24 hours your Smart Report lays the haemoglobin, red cell indices, white cells, platelets, iron and B12 side by side against their ranges, reviewed by a physician.
Frequently asked questions
Three laboratory tests that together report 23 biomarkers: a complete blood count covering haemoglobin, red cells, white cells and platelets, plus serum iron and vitamin B12. One appointment, one report, all values interpreted alongside each other.
A blood count can confirm that you are anaemic but not why. Shortages of iron and of vitamin B12 are among the most common nutritional causes, so measuring both in the same draw usually turns a finding into an explanation without a second appointment.
A great deal about where to look. Cells that are smaller and paler than usual often accompany iron shortage or an inherited haemoglobin condition, while unusually large cells raise the question of vitamin B12 or folate. Your doctor reads the indices with the rest of the panel.
Tiredness that sleep does not fix, breathlessness on mild exertion, palpitations, pale skin, dizziness, headaches, cold hands and feet, or hair shedding. Add pins and needles or a sore, smooth tongue and vitamin B12 becomes particularly relevant.
The Iron Profile measures iron transport only, for someone whose question is already about iron. This panel begins one step earlier: it establishes whether you are anaemic and then tests the two nutrients most likely to be behind it.
Yes. Stores usually run down well before haemoglobin falls, so a normal count can sit next to a low iron or B12 and symptoms that are real. That early stage is one reason the three tests are bundled rather than staged. A single serum iron does move through the day, though, so your doctor may add ferritin to judge your reserves properly.
No: it describes the anaemia rather than its source. If the pattern suggests ongoing blood loss, your doctor decides what comes next, which might involve gynaecological review, coeliac testing or a look at the digestive tract.
It can. Recent supplements or an injection lift the level measured in your blood, so a normal result soon after treatment is not proof that your stores were fine before it. Tell your doctor what you are taking and when you last took it.
Yes, 8–12 hours overnight with plain water, because serum iron is part of the panel and food affects it. Take prescribed medication as usual unless your doctor says otherwise, and plan to eat as soon as the phlebotomist has finished.
AED 129 covers all 23 biomarkers, free home sample collection anywhere in Dubai 7 days a week, and a physician-reviewed Smart Report within 24 hours. If you are not sure this is the right starting point, contact our care team first.

I had my full OGTT done at Intel Lab and had a great experience. The employees were very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating throughout the process. They explained each step clearly, which really helped ease my nerves. They also took my blood sample very carefully, especially since I’m afraid of needles, which I truly appreciated. Everything was handled professionally and smoothly. Highly recommended!
