Diabetics Profile

The Diabetics Profile measures two things: fasting blood glucose, the sugar circulating after an overnight fast, and HbA1c, the share of your haemoglobin that sugar has bound to. One shows the morning of the draw, the other shows the trend across the past 2–3 months.

Either marker on its own can mislead. A fasting glucose can be pushed up by illness, a broken fast or a bad night's sleep, while an HbA1c can be blunted by recent blood loss or a change in red cell turnover. Together they cross-check each other, and your doctor reads both before drawing a conclusion.
